Golden Globes going Green?

I don't watch award shows. I think they're pompous, boring, and much much too long. But I do like the red carpet events that take place before the shows. After that, I usually click onto something far more interesting, like Spongebob Squarepants...

Last night's event was no different, in fact, once I found out that the Transformers movie was on, that was it. I was off to cheer for Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots.

So my information on the 68th Annual Golden Globes is completely derived from E!News this morning. In celebration of Martin Luther King's birthday, I get to add one more day to my long weekend, so here I am at ye ole' keyboard, banging out my thoughts on red carpet trends.

This year the red carpet went green...literally. In a sea of black and neutrals, this was a welcomed change. My favorite was Catherine Zeta Jones, who looked fabulous in a Monique Lhuillier emerald gown and extremely happy with the news of husband Michael Douglas being cancer free. Good for them!

Okay, enough chitchat. I'll let the fashion speak for itself. Enjoy and Happy Monday!

Beads, Sparkles, and Curves, OH MY!

I am 52 years old. And at the age of 52, I have mellowed quite a bit when it comes to fashion trends and styles. I'm talking about me, no one else. I believe in age appropriate dressing and just because you have a great figure is no reason to let us see ALL of it. I know that I'm probably in the minority on this one, but like I said, this is just me.

However...

When it's done right, I have to give credit where credit is due. So I've compiled a short list of women and designs where this particular curvy look is on point and done very well. What say you? Yay, or Nay?

Designer Shoes: The WOW Factor

I am always on the lookout for something unusual in a shoe, handbag, or anything that passes as fashion. This IRIS shoe by Iris Van Herpen X United Nude, available online at SoleStruck, is amazing. I love the futuristic design, avante guard shape and the metallic embellishment.

The master behind this stunning, limited edition (only one run of 100 pairs) is Dutch born designer, Iris Van Herpen. Not for the squeamish, the IRIS SHOE has a 6.5" heel and 1.75" platform, and made it's debut during London Fashion Week as part of Herpen's "Synethesia" collection.

Not surprising, Herpen has collaborated with the Father of Avante Garde fashion, the late Alexander McQueen, and is clearly influenced by McQueen's experimentation with space-age design.

FA'SHOE'NISTA! applauds the fearless, edgy, and one of a kind designs of Iris Van Herpen. Feast and enjoy!
