Hollywood Queen of Glamor, Elizabeth Taylor dies at 79

A star on her own terms, the legendary Elizabeth Taylor died Wednesday morning at the age of 79 from a lengthy bout with Congestive Heart Failure. As a young child growing up, I thought that Elizabeth Taylor was one of the most beautiful women I'd ever seen. I remember going to the movies to see Cleopatra (my mother loved epic films) and will never forget her famous entrance into the city dressed in gold regalia. Aside from the aforementioned, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe, and Suddenly Last Summer are my favorite Elizabeth Taylor films. My mom, also named Elizabeth, shared stories of the actress' many romances and marriages and she used to always say "if Mike Todd (her third husband) had lived, she'd (Liz) still be married to him."

I don't know about that, but I do know this...Hollywood has lost one of the last great legends of cinema and I am certain those beautiful violet eyes and the fabulously "bad girl" personality behind them will be missed.

Shala Monroque

I'm feeling kind of embarrassed. I don't know where I've been and why I hadn't noticed this young lady before very recently, but the past is the past and it's time to move on to the now. So today, FA'SHOE'NISTA is featuring fashiondom's hottest fabulous fashion muse, St. Lucian, Shala Monroque. Fashion blogger, art enthusiast and the industry's latest "It Girl," (base of operation is New York), Monroque is the Editor-at-Large at Pop Magazine. Her innovative and eclectic style has made her the focus of every event she's attended, including most recently NY Fashion Week.

Whether she's in head to toe Prada (her favorite designer and close friend) or sporting the latest in Rodarte, Monroque brings her vibrant good looks, engaging smile, and effervescent personality to whatever she wears. The fashion blog "WhoWhatWear" recently voted her Girl of the Month and describes her sense of style as "daring, vivacious, sophisticated, cosmopolitan, eclectic, well-traveled, elegant, and unique." We here at FA'SHOE'NISTA concur and are more than happy to feature this rising star on the fashion horizon.
